W39 Bistro & Bakery

Another cafe hunt we did last week brought us to W39 Bistro & Bakery in West Coast/Clementi area. It’s a small cafe at the corner of Jalan Mas Puteh with limited parking lots. We were there in the late afternoon so the cafe wasn’t crowded.

Pork Cheek Panini

I had the Braised Pork Cheek Gruyere Panini with salad ($13). Love the crispy toasted panini and the melted cheese. The pork cheek was very tender with great flavor. The sandwich may look think, but it’s actually very filling. I shared half of it with Pakcik so that I could try his burger.

Wagyu Burger

Pakcik had the Wagyu Burger served with thin fries ($20). Since he is scared of “blood”, I ordered medium for the doneness of the patty. He likes the fluffy bun and the juicy beef patty. Actually I think the burger was ok, except that I kept chewing chunks of salt in the patty.
As for the fries, it’s very crispy and dusted with spices. Very addictive indeed.

Mocha

We had the mocha ($4.90). It’s served in a small glass which can be a little hot to hold onto initially.

Overall, it’s a nice cafe to visit. I don’t mind going again to try the egg benedict.

Bukit Chermin Boardwalk

Finally updating my post for Saturday~

Breakfast + lunch was at Clementi Mall. Pakcik and I each had a polo bun from Crystal Jade. I like the char siew polo bun! After that, we shared the bak chor mee from EAT at the basement of Clementi Mall. Pakcik was complaining that the portion is small for $4.50. Nevertheless, the taste was quite good.

After lunch, it was my retail therapy time. I was stressed out on Friday, so I seriously need my retail therapy to de-stress.
Cache Cache was having the “buy 2 and get the 3rd free” promotion, so I felt obliged to shop there.

I tried this top and a green dress, which I eventually bought them. I also got the tank top which I eyed last month for free (since it’s the 3rd item)! Felt so accomplished! After paying for the 3 items, I saw a pair of belts at only $9.90! Of course, I bought them too~

Our next stop was Expo. There was the John Little sale which I ended up with a new set of bedsheets, vitamins for mum, new teddy lunch box and chocolates.

Finally, we ended the shopping session and proceed to Labrador Park for a walk. There is a new Bukit Chermin Boardwalk which I didn’t know when it was built. It’s been a while since we last went there.

During low tide, we spotting so many baby crabs on the rocks below the boardwalk!
Note: Protect the environment! So please DO NOT catch the crabs!

It is very breezy in the evening, and the sunset was beautiful~
This was just perfect for me to relax and enjoy the weekend!

Well, the good weather didn’t last very long. We saw the dark rain clouds approaching, and the wind died down, so we had to make our way out of the park.
Just as we got into the car, the rain started pouring.

And of course, it was a tough drive home~

Dinner @ Crystal Jade Kitchen

Had dinner with Pakcik and his mum at Crystal Jade Kitchen in Clementi Mall.
Earlier, I complained to Pakcik that I was famished because I didn’t eat anything since Thursday night. Plus, the stressful day made me burned extra fats. I was glad that my body had stored quite a bit of fats supply to keep me conscious. =P

We had the char siew (roasted pork) with soy chicken. As usual, I like the soy chicken a lot, especially when eaten with the minced spring onions and ginger. Pakcik knew me well, so he passed me tip of the wing. His mum was quite surprised that I wanted to eat the bony part of the wing. Well, to me, that’s the most flavorful part.
The char siew was very tender and not fatty. I like it as well.

We had the Crystal Jade Fried Rice (medium serving size) to share. The fried rice was pretty good but not as tasty as the one from Ding Tai Feng. Each of us had 2 servings of the rice.

I forgot the name of this dish. Basically it’s fried fish with tofu and veggie soy sauce gravy. It was supposed to be the tail portion in the menu, but since the restaurant had no more fish tail, we had the fish body instead. The fish meat was very chewy. I wondered what kind of fish it was. In the end, I didn’t ask the waitress because I was hungry and tired.

This was my favorite~ The crunchy broccoli with mushrooms gravy!
I ate a lot of it. Pakcik commented that he will feed me with only broccoli and mushrooms in the future. =___=”

Pakcik wanted to order meatballs but he misread the menu and gotten this fried pork ribs in champagne sauce instead. The sauce is really good. As for the pork ribs, we all find it too fatty. See the thick layer of fats on the ribs?

The total cost for this meal was around $120 for the 3 of us. I like eating in Crystal Jade because the food is good and the service is prompt and good.
