Lunch @ Viva Vox Cafe

We headed to Viva Vox Cafe for lunch today. It was situated on level 1 in my office building which makes it super convenient for us.

The staff in the cafe are very friendly and enthusiastic. We were ushered to our table and the staff took the time to explain about the lunch set, weekly specials and soup of the day etc. Very good service indeed. Most importantly, there isn’t service charge.

Daily lunch set was only $11.90 nett which comes with soft drink and dessert. I had the Fish & Chips.

I like the crispy batter and thick fish fillet. The meat was moist and well seasoned. It’s good that they serve the chunky fries. I prefer fat fries to the McDonald’s skinny ones. $11.90 for a meal like this in a pretty cafe is so worth it! It just takes my blues away and wish to relax there for the rest of the afternoon.

This is the dessert from the set lunch. A very yummy and comforting eclair! It’s coated with chocolate and stuffed with chocolate mousse inside! I wish it was much bigger than this bite size. Maybe about 10 cm long would be great!

Min was craving for meat so she had the ala carte Steak and Chips.

Minnie had the Tandoori Chicken. The colors are so pretty~

Min ordered the mud pie. It’s 2 layers of ice cream with oreo base, topped with almond flakes and drizzled with caramel. It’s sweet and sleep-inducing. After that dessert, I wished I could hide in the quiet room and nap it off~

We received this reward card from the lunch. So for every $20 spent, we will get a stamp. By completing the card, we will get a $20 voucher.
Therefore, we need more visits to the cafe!

Char-Grill Bar again

My first meal on Saturday after coming back from BKK is the Char-Grill Bar’s chicken cutlet. After I dropped off my luggage at home, I went to the coffee shop near my house for my breakfast cum lunch cum dinner. I practically slept till 2pm on Saturday before dragging myself out of bed.

I ordered the chicken cutlet with cheese pasta and coleslaw as sides.

I like the cheese pasta. It’s a cold side dish. The cheese was creamy and coated every piece of fusilli. It would be more shiok if penne was used instead.
As usual, the chicken cutlet was crispy and juicy. The cutlet size was still big.

I had Tiger beer to go with the fried stuff. So yummy~

BF had the black pepper grilled fish with cheese pasta and coleslaw. It’s his first time trying the cheese pasta. He liked it too!

BF had already poured the chilli sauce before I could take a picture.
The fish was lightly grilled and served with black pepper sauce. The fish was kinda soft and watery. I didn’t really like it. The sauce was not bad, it’s not watery and not over-powering the taste of the fish.

After the meal, I was bloated but satisfied. =)
Missed local food after spending 7 days in BKK.

Char-Grill Bar

I like the Char-Grill Bar near my house. It sells yummy western food at cheap prices. It has several outlets around the island as well. Its concept is more or less similar to Aston Express, so the main item will come with 2 sides which you can choose from the menu.

The stall sells a variety of food, such as chicken, steak, lamb, sausages, fried rice and pasta.

Usually I will order the fried half spring chicken with fries, but for this time, I chose Fried Chicken Cutlet. For the sides, I chose coleslaw and fries. The fried half spring chicken will take 15 minutes, but for chicken cutlet, it only takes 5-7 minutes to serve.

The chicken cutlet was crispy and juicy. The meat was thick and the serving size was quite big. I liked it as the meat was well-marinated. The coleslaw was normal. As for the fries, it’s the fat chunky type which I like. Crispy and yummy.
The cutlet only cost $5.90 which I think it’s cheap for the serving size.

I also ordered the cheese fries. The fries tasted yummier with the mayonnaise and cheese! I noticed that the fries was also sprinkled with some spice to enhance its flavor.

With so much fried food, I think the best beverage to go with is Beer!
So refreshing!

*Burp!*
